Is the Nokia Lumia 620 the Cheaper (and Better) Bet?

Is the Nokia Lumia 620 the Cheaper (and Better) Bet? If it’s functionality and low prices you want, it looks like Nokia Lumia 620 might win the game. What do people look for in a smartphone? What makes it desirable? We all read about and follow the market ups and downs of various brands and names in the smartphone industry, but we rarely thoroughly consider why these trends change. Many users and consumers might list these factors as up for consideration when buying a smartphone:

Is the Nokia Lumia 620 the Cheaper (and Better) Bet?

-          Features

-          Availability

-          OS

-          Price

These factors put a heavy influence in a user’s mind about buying a smartphone. Features are important as each user’s needs would vary from another’s. Perhaps one user will require a relatively simple phone, merely capable of texting, multimedia messaging, browsing the web and such. Another might require a high-performance phone for multiple processes, capable of fast connection speeds to cater VoIP service providers, browsing webpages, and  syncing over cloud service, etc. Consideration would also be placed on the availability of the model. It’s no use wanting a particular model of phone when it’s simply not available in your area or is out of stock. Ordering online could be tedious for some users, and too expensive for others. The OS would also be an important factor: which OS is suited to you more? The most popular are Android and iOS, so it’s all a matter of which OS’ performance you prefer. But if there’s anything users agree on, it’s that price definitely matters.

The Budget Group

Android recently saw an influx of smartphones called the “budget” phones. They don’t necessarily have the most sophisticated features, and these phones are certainly not the flagship phones of their brand. They are the “this will do” kind of phone to get—a phone that has less than the flagship and not as expensive. The Blackberry Curve 9320 (132 USD) and LG Optimus L3 (80 USD) are two such phones. But if you’re looking for a phone that performs and is cheap enough for your pocket, it looks like the Lumia 620 is the phone to be going for.

The Nokia Lumia 620

Features:

-          3.8-inch screen with an 800 x 480 display. The display runs 246 ppi (certainly not HD).

-          Internal Storage: 8GB, but this is expandable to 64 GB, which is not shabby at all for a budget phone. In addition, you can get an extra 7GB of storage in Microsoft’s SkyDrive.

-          Windows Phone 8 OS

-          Replaceable 1300 mAh battery

-          Dual-core Snapdragon S4, 1GHz

These specs show that the Lumia 620 is definitely not just a buggy budget phone. Apart from these impressive credentials, its connectivity to social networking data is as impressive as any Windows Phone can be (they’re well known for having integrated their OS into a myriad of social networking sites, making it easier to share and receive data). There is a downside to having this phone. While it’s true that this may be the cheapest of the Nokia Windows phones (235USD) in the market right now and can certainly perform well, there’s one other factor to consider: app availability. Everyone knows that the Windows App Store is currently quite bare as compared to the Android and Apple App Stores. Your favorite apps that aren’t for social networking might not be available. But if you’re looking for a phone that performs, helps you stay connected, and is cheap to boot, this could be your best bet.
